Salsa-With its Cuban and Puerto Rican roots from the Cha Cha and Mambo, Salsa originated in New York in the mid 1900’s.
Rumba-This dance style was derived from Cuban roots during the pre-revolutionary period.
Tango- Developed in the 1890's in between the borders of Uruguay and Argentina.
Cha Cha- Discovered in Cuba in the mid 1900's.
Bachata- Caribbean dance originating from the Dominican Republic.
Merengue- Dance, known to have been originated from slaves of the Dominican Republic working in sugar beet fields.
Waltz-With roots from 16th century Austria and Germany, this dance has various versions including Hesitation, Viennese, and the Country Western Waltz.
Foxtrot-Recognized in the Early 1900's in the USA traditionally danced to big band music.
Swing-The infamous dance of the 1920's danced to jazz music has roots in Shag, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and the Jitterbug.
